I have a 89 sea ray 23' with a 7.4. It has a water pump in the lower unit (replaced two seasons ago) as well as an engine driven raw water pump, which also drives the fuel pump. I have two questions. How are the connections supposed to go on the engine driven pump? I took it off and forget how they go. I have the hose from transom going to the top of the pump and the lower outlet to the engine. It would be very difficult to hook them up the other way. I do have water coming out the back but not sure if its enough and i want to make sure. My other question is do I need both? I realize that the raw water drives the fuel pump but I could install an electric fuel pump. The reason I ask is that the pulley is wobbly and a new pump is crazy expensive. What do you think?
