I have a new/refurbished (with original warranty) Raymarine L365. It has temp, speed and fishfinder.

The first time I used it, everything worked fine. The next time I used it, the temperature was stuck on 32F. I tried changing it to Metric and it says 0C. I did a reset to defaults and it still does the same thing. I also tried adjusting the compensation but it doesn't change it that much, less than 1 degree. Out of the water it shows 33.4F

Here's the trouble - I've contacted Raymarine via their online ticket system but haven't received a response in nearly 2 weeks. The dealer won't return it as it was 'refurbished' and says I need to deal with Raymarine under their warranty.

Has anyone had a similar problem w/this fishfinder and knows what it took to get it resolved?

Re: Raymarine depth finder temp problem

If your temp sensing is integrated into the sonar transducer you should not be operating it out of the water. Doing so can/will permanently damaged the transducer in very short order.

This is what I would do: call Raymarine’s US hqtrs in the New Hampshire. (800) 539-5539 or (603) 881-5200 and ask to speak to Terry Carlson. It is unlikely you will be transferred directly to him. If I were told he is not available I would not accept a transfer to his voice mail but I would ask to speak to his secretary. If things go well, I will not get to speak to Carlson, but if I do, that’s ok, too. Secretaries are excellent at getting problems resolved so I would hope for that. :)

Carlson is the president of Raymarine, Inc, the USA division of a British company.

I would start off by saying something like, “I need your help.” Pause. “I am having technical problems with a product of yours and I have been unsuccessful in all attempts at getting a response from Raymarine’s tech support.” Without missing a beat, I would also say, “I participate on one of the largest boating forums on the internet where this problem with Raymarine’s product is being discussed and the other members there are referring me to Mr. Carlson as a way to get the problem resolved.”

With that, I think they would want to make good on their product’s warranty. ;)

I'll try that on Monday.

About operating it out of the water - their instructions said after installing the unit, try it out of the water to see if the temperature on the unit reads the approximate air temperature as a test.

Thanks
