Ever been rear ended when trailering your boat? Two weeks ago I was, just getting back to work today.Boat is in the shop with $1490.63 damage to just the motor, after that is fixed, the boat will have to be taken to a glass shop to be repaired.
I myself had built this boat, and with a direct hit to the motor knocking it up to the back of my truck, the transom is ok.Can't see how!The motor was on a transom saver. The keel up front rode up on the spare tire, riping a 14" hole all the way thru the hull on the keel about 2" wide, pop the whench off the trailer. What helped is;I add some 1/2" rope up front to tie it down(4 raps),and 2 straps across the back of the boat.I trailer this boat over 200 miles when I go fishing, pulling it 70+mph,know what they say when trailering a boat,S-it happens! Those 4 raps of rope,2 of them poped!
Like I said,I built this boat, should I repair it,I have the know how or should I let a shop do it?The guys insurence is paying for alll the repairs, but I know whats in the boat. What ya'll think?
