Wow I don't think my gas is that bad, but it is leaving a bunch of gel in the carb screen... Thanks for the procedure, I'm going to try exactly that.
I should revise a bit what I meant to say. What I did was pull the incoming fuel line connection off the fuel/water separator and splice that to a length of new fuel line you will use to get the gas from the boat fuel tank to your fuel storage tank outside the boat. I ran the fuel line up through the transom where the transom plug goes and into the engine compartment and sat behind the boat with the 12 volt mr gasket fuel pump and an extra car battery I could hook the fuel pump up to. I also ended up opening the gas tank access port on the boat floor and when I was done pumping gas, I disconnected the fuel line at the tank and removed the pickup tube to check it out and make sure the check ball was still working. I also plan on taking the mechanical fuel pump off the engine and making sure its not partially plugged or otherwise has junk in it. I can't find a rebuild kit for it but new ones are around $50.00. Also make sure to change your fuel/water separator again when you are done.
