Have a mercury 1986 75 hp, motor frozen lower unit trash. Is it worth rubuilding or should I part it out? Everything else was working has tilt and trim.

Your motor is 18 years old and sounds like it has a lot of problems $$$$ :(
You need to do a rough costing to repair and add another 10-15% to cover other things that you may have to fix. Unless you can find a source of good value parts you may find the $sum is a long way towards an upgrade. Good luck :)

beach,

If you really like the motor, hang onto it.. Look around for a used engine of roughly the same year. Maybe you'll find a good used one cheap and will have your old one around to use as parts...

Just a thought...
EBAY!

I have a 1974 850 with a bad powerhead, lower unit should be good, had some work done to it two years ago to fix it up.

But... I imagine the difference in year means that the lower unit won't fit.
