Salt water rusts and corrodes the inside of a raw water cooled engine. Automotive and boats with a closed cooling system has antifreeze in the block, which prevents the corrosion. Salt water and air are deadly. I also haven't heard of vating, but assume you mean putting in in a large vat of chemicals and boiling out all the gunk. But in reality, on a salt water engine, that gunk is old pieces of rust (aka old layers of the cooling system)<br />Like Bondo said, replacement is you only GOOD option.<br />You may not buy it, buy you will soon if you try.
