Ok,

I got all othe old foam and flooring out of the boat. I bought Aluminum which im going to put on the floor instead of wood and im going to use Ultra Tuff coat on top of the aluminum.

Now my wood console is all faded, cracked, previous owner had drilled god knows how many holes in it etc so I want to rebuild it this winter.

Since I have an aluminum boat and now floor I want something to make the console out of so I won't ever have to worry about rot, staining, sealing etc again.

What have you guys used or recommend??

Sounds like aluminum square tube and sheet metal will be your best option there too.

... have you checked your transom, it's wood too yanno.

I have not drilled any holes to check the transom. However its fully encased in Aluminum on this lund, I have tapped with a hammer for sound differences, there is not flex, bend or anything noticeable so I believe its pretty solid and sound. But I have also learned to never ignore suggestions from others.

I like the idea of aluminum tube and sheet, then I could use roll on coating on that too with color of choice. Hmmmmm. Anyone else have any other ideas? I don't want to make a mold and do fiberglass so thats ruled out. Starboard is heavier than wood and if I get 1/2 inch thick it needs bracing so it doesn't flex. But I like that its UV resistant, won't rot, etc

Yeah, a 27 yr. old transom... I'd change it whether it needed it or not just so everything is new on the boat and I know I've got another 27 yrs. before I have to worry about anything.
