The same in reverse?

Could be the throttle cable casing is "floating" at the engine or control.

What year/HP of motor?

Re: remote cables help

I have the same problem...1986 50hp. I am wondering if it could be because the control cables are too long? (I know for a fact mine are a few feet longer than I need...)
Just brainstorming out loud here...

That's SO FUNNY because I've had my boat out finally and it does the SAME thing with it's 50hp outboard. I thought it was just in my head. I think the problem lies in the cable-either the length is too long for my boat, or it's out of adjustment on the control side of the equation.

Re: remote cables help

i was thinking out of adjustment so i readjusted cables at motor side by the manual. it runs smooyh goes into gear smooth. so what ur saying maybe the control end is out of adjustment.sould i adjust the control side first then readjust the motor.

I tried adjusting both ends of my cables, and no difference...anyone have any ideas/suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated!
