I have a 1997 90 hp that has a tapping coming from under the flywheel. and i went and bought a book today and stopped by the mechanics to ask a few questions before i dive in.
he says dont try and take it off, it is hard to do and that I 'll chew up my fingers trying to get it off.
plus i need a special tool, and the factory says you need to discard the bolts and use new ones!!!
now after knowing this guy for a few years I know he crys wolf on most things...
because the truth not everyone is cut out for working on outboards..and he probably has seen his share of them come to him in pieces to put back together for a guy that got in over his head.
so is it a BIG deal trying to remove the flywheel from a 90HP 60 degree v4?
also when i am removing all the pieces to get to the flywheel is there any tiops to help make sure it all goes back together in the same timing...because the motor runs now!!
thanks
