i had water leaking into my lower unit through the drive shaft bearing assy the outer O'ring was the cause im just wondering if i can idle the motor in a bucket of water for a period of time to see if the seal is still leaking or will i need to actually run the motor up to certain speeds to build up pressure inside the lower unit?

cheers

Go ahead and run it. Just be sure you have a deep enough bucket so you have water over the cavitation plate.

The best way to do it is to pressure check the lower unit. It can be done easily with a bicycle pump and a gauge. Search this forum on how to do it.
