Replacement drain for transom?

While working on my new to me Starcraft SS 16'er the other day, the drain assembly pulled apart.

It looks like this was installed on it = http://www.iboats.com/Drain-Fitting...7268946--**********.213964865--view_id.166826

I'm not sure if that was the factory drain, or what I should go back with. I tried doing a search, but it doesn't look like there are any specific threads on the subject.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks,
Rick

I bought these for my splashwell drain tubes, from the looks of them I would think they or a bigger size would would well. Remove the old one, put a good bit of caulk around this and screw them together. If nothing else, it would be an inexpensive try!

Was it a splashwell drain? or the bilge drain?

Nobody has had to replace the Bilge Drain on a Starcraft yet?

I have searched the net from one end to the other and haven't found anything on the subject yet.

I can't believe non of the boat shops carry the above set up... as it seems to be the only thing that will work. The only reputable source online for it seems to be Iboats, but 7 bucks to ship such a little part seems a bit excessive when you could fit a couple hundred of them in a 5 buck flat rate box.

If anybody out here has used something different that worked, I'd love to hear about it.

I just got a new one of these for mine from my local marine supply. Very affordable, but you do need a special tool for the install. My dealer loans it out when you buy the tubes. I'll post up pics in my thread when I install it.

Thanks for the reply... but I don't believe that would work with my boat. It's a 16'ss and the bilge area is just thin aluminum plate. I would need something that created a drain with enough room to install a rubber plug. I don't believe there is enough clearance for a flanged type screw plug either (not without grinding material from the bottom).

Has anybody used a plastic thru Hull.Mushroom head fitting for the main bilge drain with success? I'd have to buy a new plug to make it work, but it's all I can find.

I had to do the mushroom plug on my 15 ft river boat Its a glasser but everythinh fits the same. Could not get a replacment tight from the boat shop. I put a plug in it from the outside and used it all fall on the Skagit river and nayy a leak. Sometime a more reasonable fix is not only practable but better. Besides its under warte and no one will see it anyway. Just put enough sealer on it when you install.

Thanks Puget... Nice to know that is a option.

Rick. The plug goes in from the outside its either a snap lever or better a expanding rubber plug like a older thermos bottle. Push it in turn the handle till tight and your good to go.l
