Re: Replacing Floor in boat

We have an entire section of iboats focused on rebuilding. I suggest that you go there and hang out for a while and put your post there.

To answer your question - yes - often an older boat will need the floor, stringers and transom replaced. It is a bit of a nasty job but well within the capabilities of most folks. It gives you a heck of a feeling of accomplishment when you are done knowing that it is now better and stronger than when it was new.

Re: Replacing Floor in boat

I recently replaced the floor in my 16'Bonita. Used 1/2" marine grade ply, brushed two part West System resin on the bottom of the board, laid and screwed it in place. Then used two layers of biaxial cloth and resin on top. Afterwhich I cut some doorknob size holes ( 4 ) and poured in a mix of two part foam. The boat floor and bottom is now solid and takes a beating like never before.
