Just picked up a 1973 yesterday. Due to money availabilty;), and novice skill level, I'm setting my completion at 2 years. The hull is solid as well as the rear deck. Pretty much everything that was wooden is rotten. I think the first task is going to be redoing the washboards. Right now they're rotten plywood with several layers of peeling paint. Should I go back with plywood and glass over or should I use something solid(1x10 spruce, ceder, etc...) and glass over? I want to cover the washboards on the rear deck with teak after they're solid. I can handle the wood work, but I could really use plenty of suggestions. I'll post some pics when I figure out how to resize them and get them on here. Thanks, Mike

Re: Restoring a 25 Luhrs

I hear you.... You have a 5meg picture and cant post it...

Not too sure this is the BEST way, but it works for me... I went to MSN.com and opened a "free hotmail" account. Then I send 3mb pic file to myself on the new bogus-name@hotmail.com and the when sending, MSN has a reformat tool that takes a picture from 3mb to 13kb in 2 seconds....

Free bogus email account at www.msn.com (2 minutes)
Compose a message in the email from me - to me in the bogus account
MSN will auto reconfigure the size of the pictures and then I save them to my hard-drive folder....

Best of luck to you & get those pics up soon!!

If your running windows just use mspaint and go to "image" then "stretch/skew" and reduce the image size to about 30% in both horizontal and vertical if its 5megs.... prolly 10mp or so. Save it as jpeg and you should be good.

Better yet, if you are running XP, download Windows PowerToys picture resizer. Then when you right click on your picture file, the fifth item down in the first box is 'resize picture'. Click on it and it give you 4 size choices. The 800 x 600 medium is a good choice. It will create a duplicate picture file but will have the new size in the file name.

It is slick and easy.

Scroll down the right column and choose "image resizer"

Re: Restoring a 25 Luhrs

Thanks for the technical picture help.
One is of the boat just before I loaded it. The other is of the worst spot of washboard that I'm going to start on first. They're in pretty rough shape, but it doesn't look too hard. Of coarse I may have a false since of confidence after looking at some of the projects on this site.
