Not sure if this is a question or a rant. Over 2 years ago I had a brand new manifold fail taking out my motor. I used Osco risers and manifolds but this time I used a GLM because the dealer did not have my manifold in Osco. Shortly there after I had an issue with the motor. When I pulled the plugs water came out. Pulled off (starboard) brand new riser and manifold and took it to my radiator shop that test these type of parts and they told me the manifold was leaking. The dealer I got the manifold from was of no help to me saying it must of been my installation. I boxed it and sent it to GLM. It took a little bit of yelling but they did give me a new manifold.
I now have a 2 year manifold and riser (starboard side) that is leaking. My port side has a trace of water also. last year that riser (port) had a nick in the metal housing separating my fresh water and dumped water in my cylinder. Replaced riser problem was solved. I started out with brand new risers and manifolds when I installed the new motor. Now problems again. It appears to be fresh water because I was having to add some water to my heat exchanger, but I would not rule out raw water in there also. What type of risers are you guys using for Volvo Penta with a Indmar- GM 5.7 and are you having as many problems as I. I have owned this boat since 2006 and have had problems for the last 6-7 years it seems like with leaking manifolds. I have gone thru about 4 sets (mostly Osco) The new motor has not overheated so I'm ruling out head gaskets. Just to be clear there is no water leaking externally. When the motor was rebuilt I installed all marine gaskets. this is getting old!
