This is what I have:
-Mercruiser 5.7 with Rochester Quadrajet Carburetor (17080561) with a divorce choke

I live in Tennessee and wondering if I really need the divorce choke. The thing is pretty worn out and not sure if it is worth replacing or not. Considering just rigging it up fully open. I usually don't start the boat in anything less that 70 degrees. From what I have seen, there is not an electric conversion kit for this carb number.

I appreciate any feedback and assistance you fine people can offer.

Respectfully,
Brian T. Emigh

You can get probably any Qjet part you would need here should you desire to fix it- https://cliffshighperformance.com/shop

On the other hand , I had a dead choke coil in my mercarb and ran many years with it forced open. A couple of throttle pumps to prime via the accelrator pump and fast idle for 5 minutes good to go. So no you dont need it
