Rodbolt, I have heard you are the resident expert, but any input would be great. <br />Here is my deal.....I take my motor (2004 Yamaha 150 4-stroke) into the shop for an annual service. I get it back, put it on the hose to check everything out and learn that whenever I put my motor barely in gear (as to idle into an area) it makes this tapping noise from the lower unit or prop in forward or reverse. When I rev the engine to 1000 rpm, it goes away. If I take the prop off, it goes away. Here is the question......is it my prop hub or something the dealer did to my engine? I took it back the following day, and they say my hub is bad even though it was fine when I took it in to my knowledge. This dealer has provided me horrible service, and I don't want to take it back but fear they screwed my motor up. The thrust washer is still on, and there is no play side to side or front ot back on the shaft/prop. The tapping is pretty loud and is definitely abnormal. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help guys.
