They make.22 shells with birdshot in them. A friend of mine lived right in town and used them for a major squirrel infestation. (He ate the squirrels too) ! Nobody ever complained about hearing gunshots.

I've got an old 22 and the bird shot sounds like a good idea. I like that! I didn't want to use a slug cause it would go too far when I missed.

Dunno about the US but bird shot here is stupid expensive .
I once had a 9mm rimfire bird shot ( #10 or #12 shot ) gun , nice idea but it was pretty low powered which was good in sheds because it didnt hole anything ( inc the bird most of the time ) but the shot would ricochet round a bit......which added a new dimension to the fun

Couple three years ago a mouse made a nest in our pool cover stored in the shed with a few holes made as well as feasting on my bag of grass seed so I used moth balls sprinkled around haven seen any since. Non lethal, minimal work and I kinda like the smell. Reminds me of grammas house and barn.

I once stored a bag of dry berley pellets and the new carpet set for my car together ..... bad move , after discovering the berley and eating that the little sods chewed themselves some accommodation in my carpets . Actually that was a cool house , not rodents but still vermin ( at that location ) ,feral Goats , I shot a couple of hundred of them from my patio table (Rem sps700, 7mm08 ) over the year we lived there......, shot my brothers dog too did not go down well.....

Ya, I don’t see the damage till they get washed. Try crawling in a large boat where the batteries are behind the engines, big 8-d’s. Ugh.

Don’t know about .22 long birdshot but the .22 WMR is reasonably effective on snakes and rabbits. Rabbit population has exploded and we can’t hardly keep them out of the garden or the wife’s flowers. I picked up a cheap Daisy 10 pump air rifle a few years back. It is reasonably effective as well. Lots quieter than the 22 mag which is good within city limits.

Rabbits are a pest here too ...still , some fool introduced them in the 1830's and were my main hunting critter for the last 50 years , I even built a custom rifle to snipe at them ( Sako 308 action , mab #9 26" 1:14 twist barrel , chambered for 22-250 AI , 40 deg shoulder , load 40.5gn 4064 , speer 52gn 1035 hollow point @ 4200fps, Redding comp bushing die's, rockchuck press. Shoulda gone for the 1:12 twist )
I ate my flatmates pet rabbit .......his dog ate my motorbike seat ....so , yeah

I have done the easter bunny hunt 6 times but not for probly 20 years now
My Main bunny guns were a Ruger 10/22 target and a Remmington 870 wingmaster

Those nice traps catch bunnies with veggies in it. Cut the veggies so there is a scent in the air. Place it in a bowel.
