I have a 2004 150hp optimax on a 2004 1903 CC Trophy and my RMP gage has stopped working. I have checked my wiring in the dash of the Trophy and now I need to check the Optimax. Where do I start checking on the outboard? Any help would be nice . Many thanks

Have you got the standard gauge or the multi function? Does the needle drop when switch on? If you are sure you have +/- at gauge check the harness connector that feeds instruments, connecter at engine and finally the connections on EMM.

Frist ... thanks for the help !

I have a multifunction gauge and the needle does not move when swithed on. Do you know where the connector is located on the engine ?

If you have a binnacle mount ,the instrument harness will be under dash near the key switch. Just follow wires from gauge back toward switch and you should find a 5 pin male/female connector.

I do not much about these mulifunction gages. Would a bad rectifier cause the (RPM) tach problem?

The multifunction tool measures ohms, resistance, etc. It also measures volts and other things. It's used universally in car and boat mechanic work.

I started my boat the first of this year, and over rev'd the engine before pulling back on the throttle. The tachometer is no longer working. I'm watching EBayMotors.com for a new tach.

The gauge I asked poster about is a single unit with mulitpule displays in it(temp/batt/fuel/oil/trim)

It can on other engines but this one has a belt driven alternator like a auto/truck....
