Gday to all. After chaging impeller & thermostat & head gasket, also cleaning entire water ports,my motor still feels hot to the touch.Compression is 140psi on each pot, water stream running out of pee hole is constant stream, runs & idles great.Just to mention when i first start engine for the first 3 or so min it pumps the water fairly cold, once she warms its hot to touch, then it will go cold again & then hot its like a cold and hot scenario..........whats going on.........cheers.:cool:

Re: runnig hot

that is the thermostat working, opening and closing, use an infrared thermometer, and check block temp, should be 140-160 F.

Re: runnig hot

Thanks for quick reply ,I drove down 2 mates place and borrowed his temp meter, block temp were as you mentioned 140f 143f,but still doesn;t explain why its to hot to handle.I,ve been told before that most o.m.c engines around that time liked to run a bit hotter than normal,is this true or should i b more concerned..........cheers:rolleyes:
