Ok folks, with the cold weather coming I`ve been looking for some soup recipes and I found this one on a site I frequent. I made it up tonight and it is Fantastic. We tweaked it a bit but its one of those thats you can change to suit and its still good. I cut the velveta in third and added some sharp cheddar we had here and a pack of cream cheese also. We used probably a half pound of burger we already had open with the sausage. The admiral says next time we are going to try a little chorizzo with it for a little kick. Oh yeh and dont forget the crusty bread to soak it up with. I would say go easy with the salt, it can get salty quick. Ice cold Barley Pop to wash it down works well. Enjoy :D

1 can chicken broth
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
16 oz. Velvetta cheese
1 can milk
1 can water
1 large onion (fist sized) chopped
4 cups red diced potatoes (w/peels opt.)
1 lb. Jimmy Dean sausage
Salt and pepper to taste

Crumble and brown sausage. Drain. Combine can of broth, water, onions, potatoes and sausage. Simmer for 30 mins. Add milk, cheese and soups. Simmer until soups are dissolved and cheese is melted.

Pass on the fists & celery but 'sides that it sounds okay.

I may live to regret this but why's it called 'bullet soup"?

Probably not what you're thinking otherwise it would be called Pepper Spray Soup. Sorry, someone had to.

Oh man that sounds good. :) But, does it come with a set of Defibrillator paddles?

Velveeta Cheese will stop up a sewer main, not to mention an artery or four.

The Velveeta secret is Cheese "food". Not cheese.;)

Cholesterol free? Wussie! Heh heh heh

Every Saturday afternoon I treat myself to a D'Angelos cheese steak. Best in Venice south of Philly ... Then I go home'n wait for my arteries to unclog, usually wind up takin a nap. If/when I wake up I go out'n get the boat ready for Sunday.

The taste is to die for but boy they put a hurtin on ya for a lil bit afterward ...

What's your BMI and cholesterol level?

jigngrub: You should post your diet, BMI and cholesterol level up first for comparison so we all have a baseline. ;)

Na, na, na... I asked first!:D

I think if the Heart Attack Grill ever started serving soup, this would be on the menu.

I'm sure that this soup is delicious (fat and sugar are the 2 tastiest substances on the planet)... but I get the Hershey Squirts just thinking about eating a bowl of this stuff.

Soup sounds good. But I have to ask, what is Barley Pop? Oh, nevermind. As I'm typing I figured it out..lol.

I don't have a soup recipe but if you like stew,

In a roasting pan, medium size layer the following..

1. Layer of onions sliced,
2. layer of pototes, any kind, also sliced
3. layer of turnip and carrots,
4. A handful of frozen corn
5. a 1/2 cup rice
6. layered on top with ground beef.
7. pour one can of tomato soup on top with 1 can of water

Cover, cook in 350 oven for and hour or so.

here in Newfoundland we call it shipwreck dinner.

We make lots of soups here but they alaways start with the same ingredient-cured navel beef (salt beef). t adds the flavour and saltiness needed to make a good base. From there use your favorite soup recipe.

Re: Sausage cheese soup, aka Bullet soup

If we're sharing soup recipies, here's a good German one thanks to Mrs. Dawg. Goulash Soup.

2 lbs. beef, cut in 1/2 inch cubes
2 cloves garlic
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
3 oz. tomato paste
1 tbsp. caraway seed
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1/4 to 1/2 c. sour cream
2 med. onions, chopped
3 lg. potatoes, chopped
3 tbsp. paprika
3 cans beef broth (may need more)
1/4 c. flour

Brown onion until transparent. Add beef and brown on all sides. Add garlic, tomato paste and spices. Add broth and simmer 1 to 2 hours. Add peppers and potatoes and simmer 1 more hour. Add sour cream.

Make a paste of flour and broth from soup and dilute slowly to prevent lumps. Add back to soup. Simmer to thicken and let the flavors blend, about 15 to 30 minutes. Makes 6 to 7 quarts.

Re: Sausage cheese soup, aka Bullet soup

Thanks for the Bullet soup recipe. We're going cook up a batch this weekend. One of our favorite soups is 15 bean soup.

1- Package Hurst's? 15 Bean Soup
1 lb. ham, ham hocks, or smoked sausage
1 cup onion, chopped
1 15 oz. can diced or stewed tomatoes
1 tsp. chili powder
Juice from 1 lemon
1-2 cloves minced garlic

We usually add a lb. of ham and smoked sausage. Served with a pan of fresh cornbread it makes one heck of a filling meal.
