I was in my boss's warehouse the other day, tearing down an inboard motor on a customers boat. Took a break and stood up to stretch the back muscles. I was looking around, and a windshield on a boat caught my eye. I jumped down from the boat I was in, and went to investigate. Low and behold, there sat a 18 foot Holiday. The boss stopped in later in the day to check on my progress, so I questioned him on the Holiday. He said it was his, and that he was going to strip it and scrap the hull. He asked why,"Do you want it,get it out of here?"He said he only paid $500.00 for it. I told him "Sold!" I would give him what he paid for it. He agreed to it and said it was mine. So now I guess you could say that I saved the old girl from going to the bone yard. She will be fixed up eventually, and put back in the water. The old girl doesn't deserve to go to the bone yard, she appears to have a lot of years of enjoyment left in her. I am trying to remember how to attach the pictures, so bear with me until I get them up. Thanks.

Sorry about the size of the pictures everyone. I will work on making them larger and then post them again. Be patient please. Thank you. The Holiday is going to need a new floor and transom. Plus a paint job and new seats. The boss said the motor ( Mercury 850 does run). The paint is like a nasty green on the outside that is chipped and peeling, and the yellowish gold interior has got to go. I would say that these are the original colors for that year and model.

Jasoutside,

I agree with you 100%. There is just something about the lines of these old boats that I am nuts about. I now have the '73, 18' SS, plus now the Holiday. Now I just have to make the time to restore both of them and bring them back to life and make them look good again. Then I will be on the water enjoying them. When I get started on the resto of them, there will be pics posted. Now I just have to decide which one to start on first. Decisions Decisions.

Crazy, as you well know these things don't rust away so pick one to do now and the other will still be there when your ready. Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like its in good shape. Super job on the rescue!

Looks to be a 1975 Holiday. Same as my 22 ft Holiday. Same interior. Mine is all origional and has had no modification or rebuild. Great big water boat. I have a 200 HP Johnson on the back.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

According to the HIN #, she is a 74. I haven't gotten the paperwork from the boss yet to actually see what is on it. I will attach a photo of the HIN #, and you guys can tell me if I am right about the year. She has a Mercury 850 attached to it, that the boss said runs, plus a kicker motor bracket off to the side. The manufacturer tag inside located by the steering is really pitted and was hard to read because I didn't have a lot of light in the warehouse. I told the wife I was making the Super Sport the main fishing rig, and the Holiday would be a luxury crusin rig, plus small fishing in the local lakes. She didn't like that ideal and said that it should be the other way around. LOL. Either way, they will both be used for fishing!!! Can anyone help with how to resize the photos? I adjusted them in Photobucket, but apparently they didn't do anything when I posted them. Thanks.

It look like you have sized them 320?240 saving them to Photo/B at least 800x800 (if square) but having the original size for me is best then you can select the size to post on here. if you have any trouble with the photo send me a PM.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

Nice find. I think that's only the 2nd one we've seen on here that doesn't have the huge splashwell across the back. I like that arrangement with the jump seats a lot. Nice use of space especially in a closed bow where it is already a bit limited.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

I looked at her in the warehouse and seen the set up with the jump seats, and then the closed bow. And there is still a lot of room inside of her, even with the lay out seat on the port side. I haven't decided if I want to do dual back to back seats on her, or stay with the captains swivel chair at the wheel. Will figure that out when she is being restored. I will probably be hauling her home this weekend, so I will take some better photos of her out in the natural light and repost them.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

I'd put loungers in it. Otherwise you're looking at a 4 seater.

There's nothing crazy about rescuing classic tin from the heap, nice work:D

I went with pedestal bases rather than lounge seats since space is limited on my 16' SS. I'd start with the SuperSport if I were you, but you can't go wrong either way.:)

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

Bear with me about the new pictures. I want to move her this weekend if the weather breaks. If it is nice out, I will take some clearer pictures and repost them. I am thinking of two lounge seats, along with the jump seats in the rear.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

Ezmobee,
That price isn't too bad for seats. I have been pricing them and that is about the average price. I like the fact that they even have jump seats available. Thank you for the tip.

Re: "Saved From the Junk Yard"

No problem. I liked that set because it was the only one I could find that had matching fishing chairs also. I bought 2 jumps, 2 loungers and 2 of the high back fishing chairs. Ended up not really having room for the loungers + jumps so I exchanged the loungers for the buckets. The nice thing about those jumps is they are really sturdy. They still say that they have to be mounted up against something like most jumps do but I think these are actually the low-back fishing chairs mounted on a base so they are more sturdy than the jumps with a flimsy plastic back. The whole seat folds forward which is also nice compared to the ones where the seat pad lifts off.
