Re: SBN Your Mauser

Perhaps we see different features, S&R.

I see a standard Mauser M98, Military Type with a rounded end on the pistol grip (no cap), which should identify it as a pre-WWI manufacture. It was offered in 7X57, 8X57 and 9X57mm Mauser calibers.

Pre-WWI manufacture can be verified if the name on it is "Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G.". After WWI the name was changed to "Mauser-Werke A.G.".

Now I am interested in what SBN really has.

If my identification is correct, the Gun Trader Guide of 2000 listed it's value, in excellent condition, as $525. It may have appreciated since then.

Now, SBN, you gotta go look at it. :)

Well what I can see and tell, my flip up sites have not got that curve look to them.
They lay flat against the gun.

Mine does have the dust cover over the bolt.
Has a funny looking thing on the butt that looks like some kind of little door.

I don't know, but have put it back away.
Don't want no guns in the house that I don't need or use.

One pistol and thats it.
The rest are in a safe.
Thanks specks. :)

Another observation I made today.
It has some kind of little markings right on top in front of bolt.
Can't make it out enough to see what it is.

It looks like someting in a circle.

Also noticed there are no nymbers on this gun, anywhere.

Guess maybe they have wore off over time.
