Consider yourself lucky that you could still use the boat. The beauty is aluminum props are cheap and only slightly more than getting it repaired or at least that is the case here in MN. If you don't carry a spare prop, now is a good time to get one and a spare hub, some propshaft lube and a large crescent wrench or floating prop wrench. I'm partial to the Hustler props because they are cheap.

They have to be cheap - they bend if you look at them wrong. The local prop shop doesn't even want to fix them.

Depth finders are a very useful tool but having one wouldn't have helped him in this situation. A rock or dead head pops up for one millisecond if it gets read at all. Plus given the location of most transducers there is no time to react even in the impossible event he saw it.

True but what I am saying is that he needs one to be safe. Not that it would/could have saved his prop in this situation. Just lessen the odds for this to happen again. Sometimes destiny brings a half-floating stump into your path........

I vote with the guys that say you hit bottom. Were you trimmed all the way down as you left the doc?

Agreed. I just wish destiny carried less half-floating stumps and more half-naked women into our paths, lol
