There about $5.00/100 more than Stainless.By far the best, but very expensive. I generally just use SS wood screws. Most of the ones I've removed from factory installation are just cheapy zinc wood screws.
yep $5 to $7...depends on what you call expensive, I guess.....
I just used deck screws from Lowes.
then the deck screws are your best bet.
I am going to mark this day on my calendar.
If you predril and then coat with 5 minute epoxy or the resin your using for the deck then Lowe's deck screws work Just fine like EZ said.![]()
Dont get me wrong here..I can buy a box ( #8 or #10 x2" ) of a hundred SS screws for 8 bucks. Just didnt think the normal DIY'ers out there can get that price .. so in the Spirit of Iboats I suggested the good deck screws.
Plus I was assuming the sole was going to be glassed in.
YD.
PS. Screwing into a FG stringer might cause a lot of heads being broken off using SS ( if not piloted right ).
I think we are talking to ourselves![]()
PS Have you noticed that the OP has NOT revisited. I think we are talking to ourselves![]()
I have noticed more then a few OP threads that has not been revisited on this forum ( Sometimes its good talking amongst ourselves to re-evaluate materials and repairs) .
Give it more then a few days before the OP comes back .. but after a few months I dont even look at them anymore.

That's just a sign of old age WOOD! The real problem starts when you start answering yourself
