Re: SeaFoam or Lucas ? Quick Poll

Tried Lucas in an old Datsun 280 Z with a fresh rebuild. Had to do it again. Wiped out the rods in two hours. Not a fan. Went with Castrol after that. Still running today. Other than the old Datsoon?, I go oem all the way. Everything. Oil filters etc. While were talking oil I wouldn't put a Wix or Fram on my dishwasher.

That was not Lucas' fault....
As for the filters, unless your using Delco or Motorcraft, Ill bet you are putting one on and dont know it.

As far as filters Purolator are rated the best in many un-biased tests by labs
They do better than K&N in test results.
Fram was at the bottom of the list.
Even Walmart oil filters rated better than Fram or Wix.
The Pure one filters from Purolator have a laser cut stainless steel check valve where Fram and most others are made of cardboard..

All i use in everything i own is Pure one filters,Valvoline full synthetic that beat Mobile One,Amsoil and Castrol in all the oil tests.
Yep...use the SeaFoam too..

When I first started using SeaFoam, it was around $5 a pint.

Now, it is about $9 a pint.

I switched to Marvel MO and red Heat, after reading home-made mixtures
on the forums. Works just as good, and much less expensive.

Don't know Lucas in this neighborhood.

Marvel Mystery oil is as old as the hills and well proven and cheap. Sea foam is good too but that might be because the name is psychologically linked to marine use.

I saw this last night. It appears the thread was resurrected when someone voted on the poll last night, not because someone posted to it today.

Used Lucas as an oil stabilizer, seems fine, Seafoam is awesome for sticky throttle bodies(took all hesitation out of 5.7 Yukon) and decarbing carbed and injected motors and Berryman B12 in the tank really worked well in my 22RE 4x4, what a difference!

Re: SeaFoam or Lucas ? Quick Poll

I used Seafoam in the diesel truck and it seemed to run much better but it wasn't too long after that I had a bad O-ring in the fuel filter. I have no way of knowing if the 2 are related? I have used Lucas in the fuel and really can't tell the difference in the way it runs. My lawn mower ran a lot better with Star Tron than it did with Seafoam. My mower was sputtering and ticking and the sound of the ticking was coming from the fuel pump area. Seafoam did nothing to clear that up. So I tried Star tron and withing a couple of tanks of gas the sound and sputtering faded until both were completely gone. The ticking and sputtering had started after the engine was running for 15+ minutes. Has been over a year and the engine runs like new. I put a small amount of Star tron in every 5 gallons. Use it in the boat too
