Hey mfbear. On Compression. Do not downgrade compression as an element in firing the plug. Having spent 40+ years dealing with high voltage and associate goodies, I know first hand that "altitude" hence atmospheric pressure has an impact on voltage jumping a gap. <br /><br />But, with respect to this conversation, the problem is no spark at 1 atmosphere...that's your easiest atmosphere to jump a gap. The higher the pressure, the harder it is to fire...to a point; and heading towards a vacuum it is just the opposite....till you get to the vacuum then it is just the opposite.
