Seals for a electric shift gearcase

I want to save my Evinrude Lark VIII 1966! It ran very good all season but when it was time to winterize it, I drained the gearcase oil and it was milky (white but pretty thick). It shifts really good, no slippage so I guess everything is still good in the unit.

I want to change the seals and if possible, go with real Evinrude/Johnson parts on Boats.net. The diagram shows a '68, it looks the same as my '66. What are the seals I have to replace?

Also, do I need special tools for that kind of job?

Before replacing all the seals; make sure that it is not the drain and fill screw gaskets that are doing the leaking. For seal replacement, some one with electric shift knowledge will have to chime in. Good Luck.

I forgot to mentionned that I also did a mid-season oil change and replace both washer seals.

you can replace all the seals or you can do a pressure test and determine where the leak is than replace the one.

Special tools are required to do a complete gearcase rebuild. But you don't have to get into it that deeply to replace the drive shaft seal and prop shaft seal. Unless the shafts are badly grooved, there should be no need to go any further.
