I have a 2000 4.3 liter volvo engine and would like to learn how to change thermostats and water pump impellers. Does anyone know of a nice manual that would help me? Thanks Tom

Re: service manual

Just go to the top of the page and click on "Manuals" on the next page click on Volvo Penta. Then just pick the manual you want.
Just remember one thing. They are NOT going to give you step by step instructions on doing anything. If you are not mechanically inclined, the manuals will not help much. They assume you have the ability to change parts.

Hi Tom, welcome to i-boats.

The links given by cobra & Don are for aftermarket manuals (seloc & clymer). A lot of people use them (I do) and they are o/k but if your preference is genuine manuals try here:

http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/volvo/

Aldo

Re: service manual

After some hunting (I posted a simular thread here too:), I supplied my serial #'s to stem to stern, and for $20 a piece, I got both the "original" volvo workshop manuals for my engine and outdrive. I even checked them with my mechanic yesterday, and he said they were the same one's they used in the shop.

Re: service manual

The OEM manuals are the best, but on the 2000 model, he will need 4 manuals. One for engine components, one for electrical & ignition, one for fuel systems, and one for the drive.
They are not the same as the older Volvo manuals where the engine, ignition, and fuel systems were in the same manual. They went to the OMC type manuals when they bought OMC. They are good manuals, but really hard to find things in. The ones starting last year are now going back to everything about the engine in one book and a seperate book for drives.
The original poster is needing help on how to change a thermostat and raw water impeller, and the Seloc or Clymers manuals are more geared to the DIYer where the OEM is designed for the certified Volvo techs with all the proper special tools.
