Find out why it's off centre. Disconnect the lower shift cable and see if it returns. 2 options.
1. If does return. Find out why the lower cable is holding it. (Probably stiff and needs replacing).
2. It doesn't return to centre. Remove the lever arm (the one with the valley that trips the switch), clean & grease the pivot, check the return spring (bit of wire looped around it)...
When the roller is centred in the valley, the switch needs to be set up so it closes when the gap between the roller and the arm is 1/8"...
