Hello all, I have an 89 OMC I/O. When I bought the boat I had over $1,000 worth of service done to the outdrive because the I had problem putting it into nuetral. The mechanic found water in the outdrive so he repalced two bellows, Gimbal bearing, and shift cable. I took it out to the lake the first week, and the shifting was fine, however I did take on some water in the bilge. I took the boat out for the second time this weekend, and it is difficult putting the gear in neutral again!!!!
Where do I check to see if there's water in my bellow? I am concern that water is getting in the bellow again and damaging my new shift cable. Please help.. thanks.

Re: shifting problem acting up again!! please help.

You pull the outdrive off to check for water in the bellows. Your problem is probably not water but a problem with either the shift cutout switches not working or the ESA module not working, or the cables way out of adjustment.

Here is some reading on the Cobra's and their shift system. Be sure to look at all the links.

http://www.hastings.org/~stuart/cobra/index.html
