Size of Gas Hose - Filler down to the gas tank

The guy ahead of me had used a really thick, stiff corrugated radiator hose that has very little bend. From the tank up to the filler there are three nasty bends so it was very difficult to remove. Now that it is out, I want to replace it with something new. With all the synthetics available today, there must be some products that are better than others - safe, flexible but doing the job.. There is little if any gas remaining for a long time in this length of hose. Any thoughts on this?

2nd question. What is a safe way to ground the filler cap. I really don't want it spliced into the primary -ve battery wire. How about to the through hull bolt(s) that hold the speedo tube in place at the top of the stern (under the deck)? At least these are above the water line.

As hoses start to get old they start loosing their flexibility. The hose in questions was soft and plyable when installed.

Type A2 is the only hose certified to be used in that appilcation

I would run the ground directly to the fuel tank.

Thanks for the tip. I checked out a supplier and got a real shock - the A1 tube sells for $3 and a bit per inch. At about $100, I decided the old one will go back in as it is still in good shape - just not easy to get off and back on.

I will ground the filler to the tank as you suggested.

If you have outboard A2 is correct it's only a $1.5-2 per foot. A1 is for I/O's and is a little more both are sold by the foot. So, unless you need 30+ feet it won't come near to $100.
