Re: Small Rant
I pay my bill off in full every month. I have a great way of doing it I'll share, and hopefully maybe someone can benefit.
What I do is treat every credit card transaction like a debit card transaction, I keep my balance by taking the money out in my check register just like I'd used my debit card. Do that each time. When the time comes to write the check at the end of the month all you have to do is check your check register against the credit card bill, and if they are the same, write the check, but since you kept the balance up, you don't need to deduct the money from your account, you did that during the month by subtracting your balance as the month progressed! You just cut the check and you're done. This method ensures that you don't spend money you don't have as you simply don't put so much on your card to make your balance go below zero! It's a fail-safe method! You pay off your balance in full every month but you still get to use your card like you want. I've had a card for about 6 years and used this method and paid it off every month. My credit score is now over 800.
I use one of those cards that pays you 1% cash back at the end of the year, so my christmas presents are paid for during the year by just using my credit card! I don't take the gift certificates, I opt for the check.
