Hi Folks,
New to the site. I have a bit of an issue that I'm hoping that someone can help with. I have a 2007 Stingray 210 that I get excessive bow rise until plane. And once on plane, I can only give it very minimal trim or it will porpoise badly. I tried to install a set of smart tabs (ST 1290-60) as per nauticus recommendations. However, there is no way to install them with the limited clearances due to extended hull design, and the thru hull exhaust. If I could manage to get them installed beneath the exhaust outlet, there would only be approx 6" of side clearance to the outdrive. The outer section of the hull runs back on an angle, so I can not use that area either. Attached (hopefully) is a pic with some crude measurements).
The question is, what other options do I have to get this boat to plane quicker and reduce bow rise? Should I drop pitch in the prop (currently 21P)? Should I look into a hydrofoil? Are hydrofoils ok to use with a sterndrive?
I wouldn't mind losing some top end as most of the waters I use have speed limits of 45mph (boat currently will do approx 58 mph). My last boat (16ft chaparral) had a 75 hp merc and I had a hydrofoil on it which seemed to improve it's holeshot.
