Hi Guys.I,ve read a lot about these Smart Tabs.They seem to work well on O/Bs but can they be applied to I/O set ups as well. :confused:

Hi Lube.I,m very impressed by your feed back.I,m going to get Smart Tabs for my boat if I can sorce them in Ireland.Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks John.I,ve checked the two distributors in England on prices and they are a bit steep on costs.I,m waiting for a quote from your Ireland supplier. ;)

Hi John. Here are some of the prices I have come up with.Nauticus=$200 , iboats $166 and Novurania Ribs UK =£175 ($306.25) £10 ($17.5)delivery. I still have not received a quote from Union Chandlery in Cork Ireland.John, do you not think the UK price is a bit steep. :confused:

Novuraina UK may be pricing the product as installed, since they usualy sell their boats with the tabs as standard equipment. The price does include the freight, duty, and vat taxes.<br /><br />I would check with Union first, just call them.<br /><br />We do not sell our product from here except for the blemished products that we clear out during the off season. Our List price is (same for the past 5 years) $199.99

Hi Guys. Have just finished fitting the Smart Tabs to the boat this evening.Took about 2 1/2 hours in total to put it all together,you know, check and double checking.I found fitting them to the boat fairly easy but setting the 25 degree wasn,t so easy.I had to get my son to help with that.I,m going to take it to the water tomorrow to try them out.What I was wondering,is there any thing I should watch for or any tips you guys can give me for the test run. :confused: Regards.

Check top speed vs. before install, this is a good indicator of whether the pressure is adjusted correctly. If your top speed is down try a little less pressure.

John,<br /><br />You'll never have to convince me of the brilliance of the design and function.<br /><br />Are they for everybody-NO. There is a place in the marine industry for Smart Tabs and conventional, fully adjustable, (from the helm) types. Bennett makes a great product and adds factory support that is next to none.<br /><br />I think Smart Tabs have been a true wonder product, especially for the smaller boat market.<br /><br />Boats are, for the most part, not designed as a complete unit. That is particularly true with outboard types. The boat makers, most often, have no idea what kind of propulsion is going to be added or how the weight distribution will work out. Trim tabs, of some sort, are almost an automatic addition, as to my thinking.<br /><br />Airplanes have them, and they are an absolute must.

I like the way these guys do business.This means Bennetts & Nauticus.<br />All the posts i have read would seem that neither puts down the other product.(unlike the motor vehicle market) or other products for that matter.<br />It would depend a lot on how an individuals use as to the selection.<br />They should be fitted as standard thats my view.

Hi Guys.I,ve tested the Smart Tabs on my 1750 3.0L 135hp Bayliner bowrider.Launched it at the ramp with the tabs at 25 degrees.First thing I noticed,no bow steer at low rpm.Moved out into the centre of the river,set up the rubber band gauge and let the boat go.Watched the gauge for the tabs moving up,well I can tell you in the time it took to look down at the gauge and then back to the bow the boat was already on plane.Stopped the boat to time how quick it went to plane.Let it go at 3/4 throttle and it jumped out of the hole and onto plane in 3 1/2 seconds some 2 seconds faster than before the tabs were fitted.Going by the gauge the tabs were lifting just about the same time the boat went to plane,they may need a slight adjustment.Boat handling is a lot better at all rpm ranges.Low range the bow stays down,high range very stable.7" to 8" swell the boat cuts through like a knife through butter.I was getting 49 to 50mph before tabs,now it touchs 52mph WOH .Cornering is better,the stern don,t bog down on sharp turns at 1/2 throttle like it use to.All in all it,s completely different boat and a joy to drive.The only downer on the day was when a jet skier did a sharp turn near the boat and put about 5 gallons of water into the boat and took of up the river.Well I said #### you you,re not getting away with that so I went after him.It took 2 miles to catch up with him(he thought he could out run me)and sort him out.When I got back to the ramp the other boaters asked if I got him, when I said yes I got a cheer.It seems that while I was down river he was racking havic around the older guys who could do nothing about it.Do you guys have any bother with jet skiers.They are a real pain over here in Northern Ireland.Anyway getting back to the tabs,I would say to anyone thicking of putting Smart Tabs on their boat to go ahead and get them,you won,t be sorry.Well done Nauticus a GREAT product. :cool:
