Re: Smart Tabs.

rnsi:

John will be here soon to fill you in, but untill then I can tell you that you will not be sorry you did this. I put them on my 1800 SF Bass Tracker and you couldnt get them away from me for anything. They will do all you want and more, But be ready to reprop as you will probably need more pitch. My boat planes at less than 15 MPH, (great for going though cannals and such), Is extremely stable at all speeds, Bow dosnt head for the sky when I take off, etc.

LubeDude:
Just saw you photos from your previuos post. My boat looks very similar. Same hull colors too. Are those the tabs that you 'trimmed'? I didn't see that shape on the Smart tab website. I have a BlackMax 150. What prop are you using?
Thanks.

rnsi;

Given the wide variety of use the larger ST1290-60 plates would do better, unless your transom is angled. Then you would need the MT1175-60. If possible can you send a picture of the stern / transom if agled. If it is flat side to side them there should be no problem with the ST1290-60. You can call 800-233-0194

Re: Smart Tabs.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll be ordering the Mobster Tabs this week. LubeDude thinks I may have to reprop. Right now I have a QuickSilver LaserII A40 23P stainless 3 blade, with a Stingray hydrofoil. From reading the other posts, it sounds like I should get rid of the Stingray? And what about the prop?
Thanks for any help, I've only been able to use this boat a few times, and I haven't felt real comfortable in it because of the handeling.

Re: Smart Tabs.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I was running a 23P High Five before the tabs were installed, My best prop to date is a 14.25 X 27P Turbo 4 blade. 65 MPH @ 5,300-5,400 RPM. Im running a 25P High Five now at 5,600-5,700 RPM @ about 63 MPH. These are GPS. Your boat will literally jump on plane with the tabs. I do not think I could get on plane with the 27P without the tabs. I borrowed the 27P so I had to give it back or I would still have it. You will not hear of anyone using a 14.25 X 27P four blade on any 18' Bass boat with a stock 150 on it, It is just too much prop, but with the tabs I can, and have a decent hole shot also. Not as good as the High Five, but acceptable even with two on board and all the gear. Oh, and definatly lose the foil.

No, those are not the ones I trimmed, but they did look almost the same, just a little shorter. I really didnt notice much difference when I changed them though.
