I have these controls on a Boston Whaler. There is supposed to be an adjustment on the tension under the cover. Anybody know how to access the adjustment screws. I really don't want to take a hammer and chisel to her.

Remove the side covers, there are adjustment screws under them.

Re: SmartCraft Controls

lol.....those are really nice controls bud......wow.

I think you already know all this stuff im about to post.....and your question is brand specific......but here goes any how

It looks like the port side cover comes off.
If you pull the cap off the pivot point of the handle and un screw the bolt in there.....and undo the screw on the cover....you might be able to get at the base mounts.

If not.....I regularly go into the console from another point....ie..ill take out the gauge panel and stick my hand thru the hole to un do the mounting bolts on the plate of the shift console.

The other thing...is I don't understand tighten tension???....the cables don't really work like that....the adjustment is for the distance between the mounting point and the cable thru pin. a good cable wont have tension in the movement.

this is a side mount control.........different ......but the same....lol

the cable end

this is a pic of the barrel that screws to the shaft of the cable.....the barel fits in to the end of the shift housing....this is the only adjustment.

this is the clip that screws into the base of the mount

and the clip that holds the cable stationary into the mount to the cable end can freely move.

There is one other minor difference, there are no cables, only electronics and wires.

DTS = Digital throttle and shift.

And requires only a 3 key keyboard.

The fun came when I was coming in the inlet and also docking her. The controls are way to easy. Just a slight touch and they move. I should say fun to watch me....

I checked them out and they are just like the diagram Don posted. I will adjust them later today and post a photo or two for anyone interested.
