Smooshed inlet valve seat washer

Under the valve needle seat in the inline 6 carb is a smooshed brass washer that seems to have become part of the carb bowl cover and I cannot get it out. I've tried to gently pry it with my punch and a tiny screw driver.

So, now I'm wondering if I should install the new brass washer from the carb kit under the inlet valve needle seat on top of what appears to be a crushed existing brass washer, or if the crushed/smooshed already in place is enough and I should just reinstall the inlet valve and not add a second washer?

Or, is there a trick to getting the stuck washer out? Maybe putting the entire thing in the freezer?

I never had on get stuck before. It should come out pretty easily, I would think, althought you used the best method I could think of. What about a tiny drill bit to grab it.

If you cannot get it out, put a little teflon tape on the inlet seat to seal it. Just a little bit on the threads. I would think a second washer would mess up the float adjustment.

Yeah, that makes sense. It would probably be too thick.

Looking at the washer, it looks like it has become part of the cover almost. It is 60 inch pounds to tighten the inlet valve, right?

And, do you guys use yellow gas line teflon tape or the white?

Re: Smooshed inlet valve seat washer

The drill bit got me thinking and my solution was a screw that was just the right size to grab the washer. I held the screw with my vice-grip and screwed it into the washer. It was sized such that it grabbed the washer but did not touch the bottom of the brass inlet valve. Then I wiggled and pulled and out came the washer!!
