Well ... despite my efforts of testing and prepping everything ... my transom glassing to the outer skin appears to have sucked royally ...
The resin mixture was still tacky by the time I got the transom slathered w/ a quick coat of resin ... and then bolted and clamped in as seen in the pictures. After getting all secured as much as I could I started tapping the back to make sure everything was solid .... I found on the right side of the transom ... below the 2x4 there were some hollow spots ..
If I could turn back time I would have put a s#*t-load of resin in and let it ooze out ... but not much oozing happened
Do I just drill some holes and inject resin to fill the small gap to make sure no water can sit in here ? I plan on doing 2x 1.5 oz mat on the outer-side of the transom to finish tying this in to the hull ... is this going to be good enough or did I just waste all of my time and build it worse than the rotten transom I just ripped out ?
On the upside I was able to get a 1/2 roll of 1.5 oz mat for $75
here are pictures of the before and the disaster after ...
