Wow, you weren't kidding, hold on to everything!

I wasn't expecting the extra ooomf. I figured my other boat is 165 horses, whats an extra 40 nags in the pasture going to do, right? That was rhetorical, those extra horses combined with a lighter boat and I was screaming across the lake in seconds, literally.

Shifted like butter cream, flew like a bat out of h3ll, turned on a dime. I spent quite a bit of time, stopping, starting backing up, moving forward, doing figure eights.

I didn't open it up all the way, speed, really isn't my biggest thing and it was humming along nicely at 45mph with more to go, but I didn't go there, 45 was my comfort zone limit, I just dont feel confident going over 40, 45 was pushing the envelope for grandma here.

Mechanic that we have been using, that also works on OMC engines gave it a thumbs up, said it was in excellent shape and had obviously been someones pampered pet. Has all original upholstery in excellent condition with only a few wear spots, original flooring in excellent and dry condtion.

Now it will be my pampered pet, hopefully for a few years anyway

Heres my old but new to me water toy, a 1992 Forester 4.3l OMC Cobra, I have christend my boat "Gump". Now I have "Ghetto Boat" and "Gump" (Forester Gump  )

you can't have too many boats! Old ones often aren't worth selling, especially if you can use them for somethnig and don't have to pay too much for storage

That is what my hubby was thinkining, might as well keep the darn thing and use it for southland fishin!

Sparke, I love Leech, because it is shaped like an ameoba and not a big round bowl, it feels like a bunch of different lakes connected to one big one, with all the bays and inlets. We are on Steamboat Bay.

wow... don't know what to say... That's a heck of a very nice new/old boat! I've got a 1983 Bayliner capri cuddy cabin with a 4 cylinder volvo penta. I got this junker for $200 sitting on a galvanized trailer. Doing all the work myself I still put in $500 in parts alone just to get her going! The upholstery is shot but I enjoy it because it is exactly what I wanted and I had no problem affording it... Also, it has been the most dependable boat I've ever owned!!! (I have lots of junk boats). In comparison, my cousin always had junkers too. Last year he paid $1000 for an I/O bass boat. Never could get the bugs worked out of it. For several years before he fished out of an old, wide, flat bottom aluminum boat. Had paid $1500 for a used 20 hp electric start Mercury motor after giving up on antique 25 hp johnsons. Well, after several years of spending quite a bit of money out of pocket just working on the junkers he finally bit the bullet and gave up! Last year he went out and spent $14,000 for a brand new tracker with a 60 hp 4 cycle Mercury and all the buttons and gizmo's for fishing. Now he's out $270/month but he gets to fish every time he goes to the lake and doesn't have to work on the boat at all... good for a few years till the cycle starts all over but at our age it's not good to have to think about working on boats in the future... time to fish.
