So yesterday we took the boat out, ended up staying out till almost midnight... now, this was my first time being captain of a boat in the dark (been out in some after dark, but never in charge). Once we got back to the launch, my wife say's "Gimme your keys, I'll go get the truck and back the trailer in"... Seeing as this would be the first time she has backed the trailer more than a few feet, I was understandably nervous, but I shakingly (lol) handed her the keys.. As I sat in the boat, I noticed there was VERY little lighting around the ramp, which has concrete walls on either side... I ALSO noticed that the restaurant beside the ramp had about 200 people on the deck partying and watching, which made me nervous for her..

Anyhow, I got to sit and watch as she pulled the truck/trailer around, throws it in reverse and backs the friggin trailer down into that river straighter and quicker than most 'professionals' I have watched!! I was able to pull the boat straight onto the trailer, she hooked up the winch cable, cranked it up, and had me out of the water within 3 minutes of her backing the trailer in!! She was ecstatic at the job she did, and I can't deny that I had a huge smile on my face and felt proud of the job she did, especially with all those people watching let alone the fact that she could barely see the trailer from the low lighting. Now I hope she realizes this has now become her 'duty' when launching/retrieving the boat! haha

You don't even have to send a picture of your wife, I'll trade ya right now!!!

But just one question, can she make sausage gravy and biscuits?

Excellent - Hats off to your missus! Mine refuses to drive the truck forward with the boat attached let alone the Sea-doo... there is no way she can back up a trailer - way too nervous for that!

Good on her! As long as you keep your wits, it isn't too hard. Your future launches and retrieves will be a piece of cake and fast with both of you working together. Cooking has been covered, but does she fish too?

Oh yeah.. lol.. this year she has really gotten into fishing.. a couple weeks ago we was out trolling, she hooked a 12" small-mouth using one of my rod's with a hot-n-tot... she now has her own new shiny rod/reel, tackle box, and lures and she is now more addicted to fishing than I am I think! haha

Isn't it wonderful how achievements of a man's loved ones are more important than their own? True sign of a good man in my book.:)

Well, she did it again today! we took the boys out for a couple hours, anchored in our favorite swimming hole for a while, then just cruised nice and easy for about an hour.. got back to the launch, couple people waiting to put in and take out, she hopped out, got in the truck, backed it out of the parking spot between two other trailers, straight down the ramp, and lined her up perfect while there was another trailer right beside ours where someone else was taking out.. this good ol' boy is all smiles after the last two trips :)

And its always better when there are people there to see your success. Makes for great memories and the two of you will always remember her first time (with the trailer).

Congrats (I mean double congrats) to your wife.

Sea ya...

Outstanding! I feel like I need a refresher 'backing up a trailer' course just about every time.....

My only question is where does she draw the line at baiting her own hook? Mine will put on her own wax & meal worms only:facepalm:.

But it's a start:)

Lol She'll bait her own hook with whatever live bait we use when not running crank baits. Typically our live bait is either crawlers or minnies depending on what we're tryin for.

Re: So proud of my wife!!

I hear you, its so nice to have a wife that simply rocks the launch/retrieve, Yesterday were at the ramp and were being chased by the weather, I get my stuff ready and then jump out from behind the wheel, my wife doesn't need any signal she just gets behind the wheel, I don't tell her where to drop me she sees the ramp dock is packed so she goes to drop me at the fuel dock. I run to get the truck and get in line and there's my wife well clear of the BS at the ramp, as I pull out to back in here she comes, navigates through 6 or 10 boats loitering and nails the landing so gently in a cross wind it boggles my mind (God I wished I could do that!) hook it and pull her out, trailer was in the water less then 60 seconds.

I did ask her if the outdrive was up and I got the "Do I look that Freaking stupid" Look LOL

Decided she deserved a ride on the Harley and Dinner!

^^^May also be appropriate:D:cool:

If I had a motorcycle, I wouldn't be able to get the Admiral on the back, ever. Or on her own either:facepalm: But definitely not a back seater....
