Thanks, jake. No doubt a person takes a bunch of shots and more end up in the garbage than are kept...... Thank goodness for digital...... I just started getting a little serious less than a year ago. All of my photos are done in Manual mode. I set up the shot. Do a lot of manual focus too.......

Good for you..it can be a lifelong hobby with bonus $ added on if interested. There are so many ways one can find enjoyment from photography: capturing the moment, profiles, landscapes, way back you could get into the devolopment and printing, burning and dodging and so forth, the list goes on and on...

The beauty is that after you can no longer climb into a boat you can view life through a viewfinder and only remember what you care to. You can do it from your wheelchair and still have a purpose if need be.

If one is computer and technology adept photoshop offers abilities we only dreamed of without very expensive equipment back in the film days. Not to mention having all the extra space in your fridge that is not taken up buy film, LOL.

I do like how you see the whole scene in your shot. You took care not to loose part of the roc in cropping. Well done. A lot of people do not have the eye for composition. You see many with things coming in from the side or the top with no point of reference.

My motto is, if it's outdoors and "I" like it, I'm taking a pic. May turn out, may not. But I'm going to try. It's nice too, I have a friend that's into it too. He has more experience than I do, yet we still learn from each other. We compare file info, like in my first pic: 1/2 sec. f/32 100mm ISO 100...... The 2nd : 1/125 sec. f/18 100mm ISO 800 It's fun........

My wife asked why I took a picture of rocks...... She didn't see everything else in the pic and the pretty good clarity from front to back...... All she saw was rocks....

You know why they used to make 36 exposure rolls of film don't you? Odds for 1 good shot weren't high enough in a roll of 24 :D

That's way cool - didn't know you started doing that. I used to shoot pro. You're playing the right games with those shots - monkeying with exposure settings and playing with the image in it's creation. That's a great way to learn and grow.

Don't be afraid of the digital editing software. Don't rely on it, but don't be afraid of it. When I used to do my own processing, the darkroom was a place where, yes I could fix some errors, but it was also where I could see more clearly what was occurring in the image capture. I learned to let the negatives tell me what I needed to fix on the front end next time. The digital editors can do the same thing if you're careful with them.

I try to stay out of editing rooms because most everybody uses them. I'd rather use my camera to make the adjustments. I may not get the perfect pic, but I think it makes a person take more time getting the original shot. I've seen some shots that look like paintings because they were highly edited.....

Mowed, washed both vehicles, put spare on wife's Honda - found either 2 nails or part of a staple in the tire, and got supplies for the kiddo's birthday party this weekend.

Heres a slighly better pic.

Nice! I still use my old long lens on my digital. I like it except for the fact it does't have image stabilization, which is a biggy w/o a tri-pod.

Nice collection......... I see you hate photography..... :joyous:

82rude - I've had the same Pentax (K1000) and - I think - Olympus OM1. I shot mostly Minolta SRT (still have 'em) and a Yaschica Mat (still have). But I had a Bronica for a little while, and have shot Leica and Hassleblad.

Never got a Nikon until I started playing with digital. Still haven't ever owned a Cannon.
