Seeing that the iboats community covers the world in members. What products are made/grows in your area that I might see in one of my stores.

We have a local store that makes smoked salmon called candy salmon. It supplies Wall-mart"s around the world and I have seen it in many Wall-marts.
It would be interesting to see if it is in your store. I didn't put the companies name on the post as it may be interpreted as advertising for that company. If you would like to know the company name pm me.

So whats made/grows in your area.

GAF roofing shingles are made here in Southern Indiana... so was GE Lexan (now SABIC owns them).

Barry Plastics is here too, they make most of the cups you get at Hardee's, McDonalds, Krispe Kreme, etc.. they also make everything from trashbags to tape.

Whirlpool was here... the made fridges, but moved to Mexico a few months ago.

BWX is also here in Southern Indiana... they make everything from nuclear reactors to rocket boosters for the space shuttles.

Tyson Chicken is just down the road too... that place smells great in the summer...

Lots of industry around here... I could go on and on...

Whitt, Texas (pop. 37) claims to be the cutting horse capital of the world. Several big ranches that raise and train them. Interesting note: The best cutting horses are trained on bison, which are bigger, faster and less cooperative than mere cattle.

This area is mostly horse and cattle country with some oil and natural gas production.

Fresh salt water fish, flash frozen to your local market and lobsters.

Gorton's of Gloucester processes frozen fish into fish sticks, fish patties, distributed through out the United States and to McDonalds, Burger King etc:, found in your stores frozen section. Not one piece of fish comes from this country.

Varian - maker of semi conductor parts and is the largest employer in the city employing over 800 people.

Okay, this little discount chain called Wal-Mart; oh yeah, and some little chicken company, think it's called Tyson? We also have Xpress, SeaArk, Excel boats, and other lines too that now belong to someone else. Ouchita comes to mind, now part of Grumman I believe.

Other than that not much is grown here except people...we have the highest per capita of old folk in all of Canada
