We also make a metric ton of snack foods.

I work for a company that had a partnership with BAE building MRAP's. I had to travel to York once and work on a truck on site at BAE. When I was done they gave me a tour and went out on the test track. Cool stuff!

On the way back to the hotel I stopped at HD manufacturing and took a tour of the Harley plant. Got to see where my own bagger went down the line.

Great place to visit!

Fresh salt water fish, flash frozen to your local market and lobsters.

Gorton's of Gloucester processes frozen fish into fish sticks, fish patties, distributed through out the United States and to McDonalds, Burger King etc:, found in your stores frozen section. Not one piece of fish comes from this country.

Varian - maker of semi conductor parts and is the largest employer in the city employing over 800 people.

You usta be able to say that Rule bilge pumps were made in Gloucester too, not so since ITT/Rule moved the plant to Mexico last year.

Well, until the company moved almost everything to Mexico, my hometown was home to Russel Corp, maker of athletic apparel. You used to see their 'R' logo on the uniforms of the Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers, among others.

An hour down the road, the company I work for makes medical vials, specifically the little snap-top vial that diabetic test strips come in (acucheck), in several different versions. One of our subsidiary co's next door makes the tubes that M-M minis come in.

I have to differ in my opinion. With our long summers, nice fertile and secluded landscape, smart and energetic farmers and the old get er done way of thinking that honor has to go to my state, Tobacco which was number one world wide has now lost out to the natural herbal product...lol

If you see Newfoundland Screech which is made from molasses, in the liquor stores, that's what we are known for. It's a very strong tasting rum. Also Crystal Head Vodka which is owned by the actor/comedian Dan Akroyd. It comes in a clear skull shaped bottle. Bunch of boozers aren't we? Don't forget about the Newfoundland dog and the Labrador retriever. Also our cod fish, or what's left of them. The controversial seal hunt. The show Republic of Doyle. Don't forget the actress Natasha Henstridge, better know for her roles in 'The whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards, Species. Hockey players like Dan Cleary and Michael Ryder.
