Re: So, when does your boating season end?

Was hoping to get another fishing trip within the first two weeks of October.

However, mother nature and that Murphy guy showed up and snowed on my plans. So, my season ended today, 10-09-2009 with 4'' of the little white bugs. Now I just hope we get some sun to melt and dry out the boat so I can get it covered for the winter.

You can see boats out fishing even up to xmas but for me I would say another 4 to 6 weeks max. I plan at least 2 more river rides before then in my little tinny.

I am winterizing November 8th. I'm glad we have seasons here, otherwise I wouldn't get anything else done!
Good point s.

October 10th and it's snowing. Could be a rough winter in eastern Iowa.

Interesting to see that most pack it up by mid November. I don't feel as depressed now.

I like the change of seasons here. It give me something to look forward to in the spring and I have lots of time to shop for new toys and accessories :D

Nice day today but the forecast is rain and cooler temps for the next 7 days so looks like my season is over. Will pull the carbs, fuel pump and lower unit (rebuilds) and winterize the boat :(.

Feel really bad for those with snow already. The first snow is always a shock, especially so early in the season. Could make for a long winter.

Well, I've got about another week left...maybe two. This is mostly driven by the insurance on my boat trailer and the requirement by the marina where I moor my boat to have the boat out by the end of October.
We are in a pretty mild climate here in the PNW and do not tend to have any frozen lakes, etc. Most people park their boats due to cool and wet weather not usually suited to a lot of comfortable boating. The H.Duty salmon fishermen never quit around here...they are always out and always ready to go.;):)

Most likely, on the day that I die.

It doesn't really. Well, maybe in Jan-February, but that's about it. I had my boat out last year on 12-26 and was a beautiful day out. Water to cold to get in, but excellent day for cruising around.

Mine ended yesterday when I filled it with antifreeze, drained the drive, pulled the battery and tucked it into a cozy corner in the shed.
After that I started working on putting an engine into a ZRT600 I have, getting the winter toys ready. :D
Snowmobiling is so much fun too, might be my favorite.

Mine too.:( I normally hold out till the end of Oct, but last night was below freezing for a solid 7-8 hours so I pulled the plug and dropped her off at the marina to get winterized. To cold to leave her in my unheated barn. The marina will keep her in heated indoor storage till they get to her later this week.

This was the last pic from the 2009 season. I guess it wasn't a bad way to end the season.

Fish the bays and Atlantic year round from Long Island, NY. Bubble system keeps the ice away. Fish blackfish, ling, and cod all winter. Chilly but delicious and often profitable.

Re: So, when does your boating season end?

This was at sunrise on my last day this year, Sept. 26, wayyyy upstate NY. It warmed up and was a great day. If it were only the weather, I'm sure I'd be out a lot later than that, but now I happen to live 160 miles away from there and it's determined more by when I'm able to drag the boat home. When I was a kid and we lived closer, sometimes we were out until November, one year close to Thanksgiving. The season seemed awful short this year. :(
