SOMEONE please help me figure out how to get this motor mount clip back in!!

2000 mercury 90 hp saltwater, The motor moves alot due to this clip in the picture is out.Can some please explain how I can get it back in where it goes? Ive tried everything I can think of.Thanks

I would imagine that item 17 is worn or broken leting your engine hang on the retainer item 16 which was not designed to hold the weight of the engine so if that's the case 17 will have to be replace and that's quite a lot of work, here's a link.

Is this related to your previous post where you stated play in lower motor mounts/yoke. Has any repair been done? The ring popping off is probably a result of excessive play, possible the lower splines of the swivel are gone, not allowing ring to be retained. Check with mirror and flashlight.
