Does Fire Island still have a certain "reputation"?

Any photos of the lighthouse at Montauk?

Hahaaa, yes it does. Fire Island is made up of a bunch of small islands to protect the beaches of Long Island and all are great family, party spots but one is called Cherry Grove. It is where people with an "alternative lifestyle" go to party.

... called Cherry Grove..

Well, there you go! :) Nothing too suggestive about that name! ;)

(My mom is from Farmingdale, that's why I knew of Fire Island's reputation, at least in the 50s and 60s.)

About an hour's motoring to the north from Cleveland is a place called Tangalooma. It's simply paradise.

The wreck is a sand dredge, there's a couple of old steamers and a tugboat. They were put into 20ft of water to create an artificial reef to encourage fish to school in the area. Originally Tanga was a whaling station and is now a resort with dolphins, turtles, heaps of reef fish, dungongs (a bit like a manatee) and humpback whales in migration season (July to October). Summer is going great so far... I hope your winter gets better, we've seen the snow storms on the news and it looks COLD!!!!

Regarding beer... this is my favourite...

Errmm, that's a problem even when the water's 75 degrees F! It's the rate of shrinkage that varies! :D

The St Clair System straddles the Michigan/Ontario border and encompasses the St Clair River, Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River.
The St Clair River is the fastest river in the world regularly navigated by ships, either ocean going tramps which bring in invasive species, or the beautiful, big, 1000 ft "Lakers". (Just a little editorializing.)
The St Clair River has the worlds largest freshwater estuary where it opens into 400 + sq mile Lake St Clair.
Lake St Clair is shallow, and fertile. It is truly a world class muskie and Smallmouth Bass fishery in the shadow of Motown.
90% of the water that goes over Niagra Falls comes through Lake St Clair, which despite it's size changes it's water every 5-7 days on average.
The Detroit River is the premier walleye fishery of the world. The car tunnel from Detroit to Windsor Ont is the only place on the continental US where you travel south to travel to Canada.
