Source for model TN impeller

[TN-25]

I don't need one currently, but does anyone have a source for an impeller for a Johnson TN-25 through TN-28? I have been searching all over for Johnson part # 375688. Crowley Marine showed the part, but as unavailable. If it were for a 1954 5?, no problem!

As another aside, for a float what does one use? My parts manual shows 3-618 for the cork float, or 4-110 for the float, wood screw and pin assembly.

The guy who rebuilt my motor cautioned me that restoring one of these motors is a challenge because they are about 1 generation too old to find parts easily.

Perhaps this is one of those old motors that one has to hand make parts for. The impeller may end up being one for another application but modified to fit.

Hi TN,
Doesn't the TN-25 use the standard rubber star impeller like all the other TNs? If so, use the 1954 & up impeller. I use put one in the '53 Sea King I picked out of the scrapyard and it worked fine. The '53 Sea King uses the TN-series lower unit...

Yep, they got it for $22.95. Not bad, huh? I think the older Fleetwins use this same impeller too.

Well, I just ordered a new impeller and L/U reseal kit for my 1953 Johnson 25.

Any thoughts on where to find a replacement float?

Last week I ran the motor on a stand with a barrel of water for a good hour. It pumped water flawlessly and had no hot spots. Once I shut down I saw fuel leaking from the carb. All screws seem to be tight and supposedly all gaskets, packing and float were replaced. I siphoned out all the fuel from the tank that I could and shut the petcock. 1 week later the thing is still dripping fuel from the carb and I can't keep it in the house. I just want to make sure I have sources for parts when I talk to the guy who restored the motor. I also want to make sure that I can line up replacement parts for the consumables since I do plan on actually running this motor. If I have to keep a sharp eye out for elusive part(s) then some lead time is good.

I sense another carb-specific post coming...

next time you need an impeller, get one right here at iboats for a 5.5hp and ream out the center hole to fit the TN shaft. It is only .010" larger. $10.99.
