spark plug difference?

i have a "83" evinrude 50hp, it calls for champion L77j4 plugs, all i can find around here are L77jc4. <br />whats the difference between the two?

Cat-the "J" is cutback ground electrode with modified gap...the "C" adds copper plus design

thanks, so i'm assuming there is no performance difference, like heat range.

nope...the heat range is the same...I think they added copper for longevity

As I recall, the J6 was the hotter alternative, which I used on a "tired" motor.

thanks again, i'm not looking for a hotter plug. the plugs have been in for about 20hrs on a fresh rebuild, and they still look new i just wanted to make sure the plugs were the right ones.
