spark plug difference?

i have a "83" evinrude 50hp, it calls for champion L77j4 plugs, all i can find around here are L77jc4. <br />whats the difference between the two?

Cat-the "J" is cutback ground electrode with modified gap...the "C" adds copper plus design :cool:

thanks, so i'm assuming there is no performance difference, like heat range.

nope...the heat range is the same...I think they added copper for longevity :cool:

As I recall, the J6 was the hotter alternative, which I used on a "tired" motor.

thanks again, i'm not looking for a hotter plug. the plugs have been in for about 20hrs on a fresh rebuild, and they still look new :D i just wanted to make sure the plugs were the right ones.
