Re: Spark Plugs and Oil Filter
I seem to have misplaced my manual...I have a 1991 OMC 4.3, I picked up the plugs and filter for a 1991 Blazer with the same engine. Will this work? I was told to put anitseeze on the plugs?
Thanks
hello...
work? as in fire?
well, generally same plug for same engine will work. the biggest issue aside from the thread size and the seating arrangement, taper vs washer... is the length of the electrode protruding down into the combustion chamber.
sometimes the electrode is more or less level with the surface of the combustin chamber. sometimes it is designed to protrude. sometimes it is long on the porcelean to accomodate combustion chamber thickness.
i would not use a long tip in a short plugged head. the worst i have seen,

and that was in the days of pop-up pistons was the dome closing the gap. i have seen and changed many a set of plugs !!
but so long as the electrode/procelean area is about same, and thread and seal same... yes, they will work.
may not last a long as specific plug model number. heat ranges come into play.
all the 43s, 44s, 45s etc are very similar is mechanical design.
all else aside, the plug gap would be a more important issue to me.
of course, using the correct plug (number) or the one it is superceded by... is the best advice anyone can give you.
